English actor and theatre manager (1811-1868) best known for his revivals of Shakespearean plays; son of actor Edmund Kean and actress Mary Kean. Two ALSs by Kean, one signed "Charles Kean" and the other signed "C. Kean," each one page, one dated October 18, 1852, and the other undated. The first, in full: "The general tone of your letter & more especially the concluding paragraphs are so gratuitously offensive, that they utterly prevent me from entering into any correspondence with you on the subject on which you have addressed me." The second, in full: "I have called Mr. Ryder & Mr. W. Lacy at a quarter past eleven to-morrow evening to rehearse their fight in the saloon—mind that one of your men is in waiting for them (before that time) with the fighting sticks and shields." In overall fine condition.
