American artist (1867-1944) whose distinctive 'Gibson Girl' illustrations defined the image of American women at the turn of the 20th century. ALS signed “C. D. Gibson,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 7.25, January 15, 1909. Handwritten letter to Mr. Drake, in part: "I am delighted that you can come to the dinner Jan 5 and all hands will appreciate it. I promise you that your wish will be respected. As much as we would like to hear you you will not be called upon…I have put the whole thing off on Dan Beard as toast master. I have just written to him saying that I have made this promise." In fine condition.
