Entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist (1870-1954) who was a member of the prominent du Pont family; among his more notable positions, he served as president of the E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, as the president of General Motors, and was on the founding board of directors of the Empire State Building. Partly-printed DS, signed “Pierre S. du Pont,” one page, 11.5 x 7.25, June 19, 1930. Stock certificate for 100 shares in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company issued to du Pont, endorsed on the reverse by him to transfer the shares. In fine condition. The consignor notes that around 20 of these certificates exist today.
