Norwegian ethnographer and adventurer (1914-2002) best known for the Kon-Tiki expedition, during which he tested the theory of early contact between South America and Polynesia by successfully sailing a raft across the Pacific Ocean. Two vintage matte-finish photos, 4 x 5.75 and 5.75 x 4, including a portrait of Heyerdahl, signed in fountain pen, "Thor Heyerdahl, 3. 3. 1971," and one of his papyrus boat Ra II, signed and inscribed in black ballpoint, "George Greegan, from, Thor Heyerdahl, 3. 3. 1971."
