The early American publisher aims to "dispose of some portraits of Daniel O'Connell"

Irish-born publisher and economist (1760-1839) remembered for his Philadelphia-based political periodicals The Pennsylvania Herald, Columbian Magazine, and The American Museum. ALS, one page, 8 x 9.75, September 18, 1831. Handwritten letter to William Gwynn, in part: "The Bearer Mr. Booth, has undertaken to dispose of some portraits of Daniel O'Connell, for a person who is in no distressed circumstances, but who has seen better days. Knowing your benevolence, I recommend him to your kindness, & hope you will be so good to introduce him to some active & zealous Irishman, who will be able & willing to aid him in his operations." In fine condition, with a few tiny edge chips and rusty circular paperclip impressions to the top.
