Description

American statesman (1764-1836) who helped draft the Louisiana Civil Code and served as Andrew Jackson's secretary of state. ALS signed "Edw. Livingston," one page, 6.5 x 8.25, no date. Handwritten letter of introduction, in part: "A very particular friend of mine Mr. C. D. Colden is going to Bordeaux for his health. I will esteem it a particular favor if you will furnish him with a Letter or such certificate as the Gentleman who hands you this will describe." In very good condition, with overall staining.
