Vintage glossy 8 x 10 Paramount publicity photo of the pioneering comedic actor, neatly signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Jim Hurst, Best wishes and Regards, Rochester.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, light silvering to the darker areas of the image, and surface impressions from a notation on the back. After a start on the vaudeville circuit, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson transitioned into films and radio in the early 1930s. He began his most famous role of Rochester van Jones, often simply called 'Rochester,' the valet of Jack Benny, on his radio show The Jack Benny Program. When the series moved to television, Anderson continued in the role until the series came to end in 1965.
