Distinguished Japanese actor (1889-1973) best known for his Oscar-nominated portrayal of a prison-camp commander in the film Bridge on the River Kwai. Vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.5 portrait of Hayakawa by C. Henry Anderson of San Francisco, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Sam Behrendy, with sincere regard, Sessue Hayakawa.” In very good to fine condition, with a small crease to the lower right corner tip, and heavy silvering to the edges.
