(Walt Disney Studios, 1989) Original paste-up model sheet featuring Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck from "Prod. 2532," the unreleased featurette Swabbies, an unfinished Disney project that has carved out its own unique place in the studio’s archives—Disney cartoons that were never produced are a huge and important part of the animation history of the Disney Studio, with art from these cartoons being highly collectible and very hard to find. The 25 preliminary hand-drawn character model sketches have been cut out and applied to a 35 x 27.5 board, signed at center in pencil by director Darrell Van Citters, "OK, Darrell." Also bears a Walt Disney Productions studio stamp above the signature, and two printed drawings of Daisy's head (in black) to lower left. This full-size board would have been photographed and reproduced at 14 x 11 to be distributed to the animators producing the cartoon as reference material. Rarely seen outside the studio, this is an impressive original piece from an important step in the animation process. In fine condition. Swabbies is referenced in Charles Solomon’s 1995 book The Disney that Never Was: The Stories and Art of Five Decades of Unproduced Animation. A wonderfully large hand-drawn model sheet that would be a rare highlight of any Disney collection.
