Renowned military officer, adventurer, and writer from the Kingdom of Hungary, who described himself as both a Hungarian and a Pole (1746-1786). Celebrated as a national hero in Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, he escaped from a Siberian prison, made expeditions to Madagascar, and recorded his travels in an influential autobiography. Partly-printed DS in French, signed “Le Baron de Benyovszky,” one page, 9 x 14.25, August 19, 1774. Untranslated official document signed at the conclusion by Benyovszky. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, a rusty circular paperclip impression at center, and minor loss to an upper corner.
