(Walt Disney Studios, 1955) Beautiful original panoramic concept painting by Eyvind Earle for Lady and the Tramp, depicting the two dogs seated on a leaf-covered sidewalk in front of the house of Lady’s owners, Jim Dear and Darling. Earle captures the scene with a patent tenderness, adding soft shadows and fading light to the romantic New England setting. He pulls your attention to the title pooches and then fills the periphery with a remarkable sense of peace and prosperity—the well-kept frontage and stately New Haven residence essentially the canine equivalent to a fairy tale castle. Accomplished in tempera on 23 x 9 artist's board, signed in the lower right corner in black paint, "Eyvind Earle." In fine condition, with tack holes to corners, and a few trivial scuffs. Disney artist Eyvind Earle, who later became Sleeping Beauty's production designer, created almost 50 miniature concept sketches for the 'Bella Notte' sequence and was a key contributor to the classic film. A simply brilliant original piece of Disney art.
