Description

Blair's dramatic conception of Cinderella fleeing the castle rendered in full panorama—one gleaming glass slipper left behind!

(Walt Disney Studios, 1950) Amazing original panoramic concept painting by Mary Blair of Cinderella's late-night flight from the Prince's castle, her shining slipper left behind at the castle's entrance. Brilliantly executed in blue, blacks, and grays, the imposing castle landscape contrasts beautifully against the starry sky. Accomplished in tempera on 18.5 x 9 illustration board. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. A magnificently conceived panorama of an iconic scene from the hand of a Disney master.

Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World), and her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
