Description

Advocate of postal reforms (1795-1879) including uniform low rates and prepayment by means of adhesive postage stamps, which he is credited with inventing. ALS, three pages both sides, 4.75 x 7.25, embossed Post Office letterhead, June 24. Handwritten letter marked "Confidential," in part: "Your note does not show that the application is on behalf of Mr. Levy—I would suggest that this should be made apparent & also that his connexion with the Daily Telegraph should be incidentally mentioned." In fine condition.
