Great Canadian politician and statesman (1841-1919) who served as the seventh prime minister of Canada. TLS, two pages, 7.75 x 10, Privy Council, Canada letterhead, March 13, 1899. Letter replying to an invitation to a "re-union and banquet to be given by the London Club of the Ancient and Honourable Artillery Company, in the city of Boston," in part: "Unfortunately Parliament meets on the 16th. instant and will be in session during the whole month of April, and my time will be so occupied at that period, that I am reluctantly compelled to have to decline your invitation." In very good to fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner, a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge of the first page, and the second page oddly and inexplicably trimmed.
