ALS in pencil, one page both sides, 7 x 9, October 7, 1876. Handwritten letter to William Yeomans, in part: "I am much obliged to you for your information about poor Samuel Wheeldon of Wheatcroft. I should like, if you will kindly convey it to him weekly, to give him 31/ (enclosed) for the next month at the rate of 1/ a day; after that, we will see further. If you could be as so good as to ascertain whether he is allowed or ordered stimulants. I should like to lend him through you a bottle of Brandy…Let him have a kind message from me, please, as from Mr. Nightingale: I say that I hope they will meet one another in the Kingdom of God, & that God may give him strength to bear his sufferings patiently. I should be anxious to know whether he is confined to bed; & whether he suffers much; & whether he has been given Opiates to take, which are generally in Cancer unavoidable." In fine condition.
