Limited edition 1:48 scale model replica of a North American Aviation X-15 Rocket Research Plane by Toys and Models Corporation. Numbered 88/500, the model, which measures 12.5″ across and 5.5″ from the tips of each wing, is set on a wooden base with an affixed “40th Anniversary” plaque to an approximate height of 6.5″. The left wing is signed in silver ink by Pete Knight, “Wm. J. Knight.” In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the Flight Test Historical Foundation. Knight was the pilot when the X-15 achieved it's highest speed of 4,250 miles per hour in October 1967. This set the official world record for highest speed recorded by a crewed, powered aircraft—a record that still stands today.
