Scarce ALS as vice president, one page, 8 x 10, April 6, 1850. Handwritten letter, in full: "I have your letter of the 4th inst. The name of the Attorney General of New York is Chatfield, but his given name I do not recollect. A letter addressed to 'The Attorney General, Albany, N.Y.,' will be sufficient." In fine condition. Fillmore served as vice president for only 16 months before ascending to the presidency upon Zachary Taylor's death, making any correspondence in this capacity quite rare.
