Master bank robber (1901-1980) nicknamed 'The Actor' for his success in eluding capture through the use of disguises and odd mannerisms. Two items: a color glossy 3.5 x 3.5 Polaroid photo of Sutton relaxing on a couch, signed and inscribed on the reverse in ballpoint, "To Will Ahearn with Best wishes, Willie Sutton, January 16, 1971"; and a TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, January 17, 1971, addressed to Will, in part: "I have completed the manuscript of my autobiography and within a few months it should be published. I have named it, THE WORLD OF WILLIE SUTTON, and I sincerely hope that the contents will give those who read it a realistic insight into the causes of crime, the making of criminals and various aspects of prison life." In overall fine condition.
