Large vintage semi-glossy 13.25 x 16.5 silver gelatin portrait of Begley in an intense front-facing pose by Murray Laden, signed and inscribed in black fountain pen, "To Dr. and Mrs. Town, with gratitude and affection, even Ed Jr., wishes [Begley switches to blue fountain pen] that he be included in this. Sincerely, Ed Begley, W. O. Gant, 'Look Homeward, Angel.'” Reverse bears the photographer's label. In fine condition, with silvering to the perimeter from prior display. Although Hugh Griffith more famously played W. O. Gant in the stage adaptation of Look Homeward, Angel, based on Thomas Wolfe’s 1929 novel, Begley also took a turn performing the role in 1958.
