Description

Manuscript DS, signed “Sam'l Huntington, Governor" and "W. Williams,” one page both sides, 7.75 x 13, March 18, 1788. Transferal of a mortgage deed from Jonathan Trumbull, deceased, "late of Lebanon in the County of Windham & State of Connecticut" to James Pitts of "Boston in the County of Suffolk in the Province of Massachusetts Bay," relating to a "Certain Tract of land lying in Lebanon…containing Eight acres by Estimation." Approved at the conclusion by Huntington as the Governor of Connecticut: "State of Connecticut New London, the 18th day of March 1788, personally appeared David Trumbull Executor the above named…acknowledged the foregoing Instrument to be his free act of Deed, Before me Sam'l Huntington Governor." The reverse of the second integral page is docketed and signed by Williams: "Hon'o Jn'o Pitts Esq., from Dav'd Trumbull Esq., 18 Mar. 1788, Rec'd & recorded on Lebanon Records…W. Williams, Reg." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing and toning, and an old repair to the back of the top edge of the first page.
