Lieutenant general (1888-1945) in the United States Army Air Forces during the Pacific Campaign in World War II, presumed to have perished in February 1945 when his plane disappeared while en route to Hawaii from Kwajalein Island. Along with fellow lieutenant generals Frank Maxwell Andrews, Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr., and Lesley J. McNair, he was the highest-ranking American to die in World War II. Fantastic vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.25 photo of Harmon in uniform, nicely signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "With appreciation to you Miss Moreno for helping us over the hump in the South Pacific. M. F. Harmon, Lieut. Gen.” In very fine condition.
