Manuscript DS, signed “G. Ross,” two pages both sides, 7.5 x 6, July 1761. A legal document pertaining to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, which finds plaintiff Richard Gilston, represented by his attorney George Ross, accusing "John Cannon & Robert Cannon late of Cumberland County yeomn" of failing to pay a debt of "Eight pounds three Shillings lawfull Money of Pennsylvania." Gilston also seeks £20 in damages because he claims the Cannons never intended to reimburse him. Signed at the conclusion by George Ross. Double-matted and framed with a plaque and an engraving (which bears a facsimile signature) to an overall size of 23 x 20.25; window to frame backing reveals the first page of document. In fine condition, with light toning along the folds, and some wear to frame.
