Description

President Harding sends a signed photograph to his hometown Chamber of Commerce, disclaiming it as a "rather insignificant prize offering"

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, April 9, 1923. Letter to Millard Hunt of the Marion, Ohio's Chamber of Commerce, in part: "It is wholly agreeable to furnish your organization with an autographed photograph for the purposes suggested therein, though I can well imagine it might fall in the hands of some people who would regard it as a rather insignificant prize offering. I am also glad to comply with your request for a photograph inscribed to you personally…Thank you for your thoughtful reference to Mrs. Harding. She was very greatly improved by her Southern trip, and we are confident she is going to be quite well again." In fine condition.
