ALS in Italian, signed “Giacomo,” two pages both sides, 6.25 x 9, Torre del Lago letterhead, May 18, 1921. Letter to his lover, the German soprano Rose Ader. He writes that he has received the little picture of her in costume, and thinks it is sweet. He asks what opera it was. Perhaps Mozart? He did not write the previous day because he was nervous. He has no time for freedom to recollect to himself quite as fully as he would like to. He desires no other woman but her. He then speaks of the efforts he will make so that he can see her in September: he will find a hotel where she can lodge. He again questions his wisdom in permitting himself to fall in love with her. When she speaks of her love for him, he feels as though he has paradise in his heart. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Puccini's hand.
