Very rare The Wildcat 1952 yearbook from Wink High School in Texas, 8 x 11, signed four times by Roy Orbison: once on his portrait as a member of the sophomore class ("Roy Orbison"); as a member of the orchestral band ("Roy"); as a member of the marching band ("Roy"); and as the 'manager' for the 'Kittens' junior varsity football squad ("Roy"). On the title page, Orbison also writes, "To Martha Lou...to wish you the best of everything in the years to come, a friend, Roy (Facetus) Orbison." A multitude of other students and faculty have also signed throughout. In fine condition. Orbison's family moved to Wink, Texas, in 1946, where his father worked as an oil well driller. Always keen to sing, he formed a band while in high school—the 'Wink Westerners'—which played country standards and Glenn Miller tunes at local honky-tonks and on a weekly radio show. After graduating from Wink High, he enrolled at North Texas State College. A unique, early piece from rock 'n' roll's premier crooner.
