Naval officer (1888-1974) who attained the rank of Rear Admiral after serving in World Wars I and II, and also a recipient of the Legion of Merit. Vintage matte-finish 7.25 x 9 photo of Conklin presenting a young John F. Kennedy his medal for heroism after rescuing crew members of PT-109, and affixed to a 10.5 x 13.5 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in blue ink, "To Cornelius Greenway D. D. with kindest regards. As Captain MC US Navy it was my privilege to present the Navy and Marine Corps medal to Lt. John F. Kennedy USN at the US Naval Hospital Chelsea Mass on June 12, 1944. Fredric L. Conklin, Rear Admiral MC US Navy Ret." Impressively matted and framed with two images and four original JFK campaign pins (including a PT-109 pin) to an overall size of 31 x 19. In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the upper left and lower left corners on the mount.
