English painter and sculptor (1802-1873) best known for his animal-inspired artwork; his most famous works are the lion sculptures in Trafalgar Square. ALS signed “E. Landseer,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 7, November 21, 1845. Letter commenting on another artist's folio, which he has looked at "with the greatest pleasure—it appears to me that she has very little to learn. Mr. Leslie…is of the same opinion—he was quite delighted with their truth and original characters." He goes on to invite the artist to call, as he "should be happy to show her my studio."
