Original Civil War-era sketch for Harper’s Weekly, which was part of the 10-scene mosaic entitled ‘On the Road between Washington and Alexandria,’ published on June 22, 1861. The sketch, accomplished in graphite and watercolor on an off-white 2.25 x 6.25 sheet, shows two Union soldiers stringing up telegraph wires, with the reverse captioned: “On the road, putting up telegraph wires.” In fine condition.
