A substantial segment of flown heat shield from the Gemini 8 spacecraft, measuring approximately 1.75″ x 1″ x .75″ and encased in a slightly larger Lucite block that is displayed on a wooden base with an engraved plaque reading: "Heat Shield of Gemini #8, 'First Docking in Space,' Neil Armstrong, David Scott, 16 March 1966." The base features two gold-tone pen-holder tubes on the left and right sides, which includes the original matching pens. In fine condition, with a few slight marks to the base.
