Description

Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 13.5 Harris & Ewing photo of Hughes in his judicial robe, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, "To Dean Justin Miller, with high esteem, Charles E. Hughes, Feb. 29, 1932." Blindstamped in the lower left by the studio. In fine to very fine condition, with a bit of light silvering around the photographer's stamp. Miller served as dean of the Duke University School of Law from 1930 to 1935, later becoming an associate justice of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
