Early hand-drawn technical diagram by Deke Slayton on an off-white 17 x 11 sheet, titled and signed along the bottom in graphite, "Dimensioning, Scale-One Half, April 25, 1947, University of Minnesota, Drawing 2-3B, D. K. Slayton." After being discharged from the Army, Slayton studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Minnesota. Here, he neatly drafts two “Shifter Guide Bracket” diagrams for one of his classes. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1949, and accepted a job as an engineer with Boeing. In fine condition.
