First edition proof set of the 'Men in Space Series' by The Danbury Mint, which contains 21 sterling silver coins honoring NASA's manned missions from Mercury-Redstone 3 to Apollo 11. Each coin measures 1.5″ in diameter and weighs approximately 20.6 grams. The coins are housed in their original presentation folder, which no longer retains its certificate. Included is a limited edition commemorative set from The Danbury Mint entitled 'America's First Space Decade,' which contains a sterling silver coin and commemorative cover. In very good to fine condition, with damage to the Men in Space case, not affecting the coins themselves.
