ALS, one page, 7 x 10.5, personal letterhead, July 1, 1931. Letter to Edwin A. Sherman and his wife, in full: "Please accept my thanks for your beautiful birthday remembrance. All the family is pleased except Tim. He is not in favor of any more dogs. We hope you are having a pleasant summer. We go to Swampscott tomorrow." In fine condition. The Coolidge family owned numerous pets over the years, including canaries, geese, raccoons, a bobcat, a donkey, cats, and several dogs, one of which was Tiny Tim, a chow. The Coolidges were also gifted a few exotic pets from foreign dignitaries such as lion cubs (humorously named Tax Reduction and Budget Bureau), a wallaby, a black bear, and a pygmy hippo named Billy.
