Partly-printed DS, signed “B. Lincoln,” one page, 9.5 x 5.25, April 8, 1805. Port of Boston and Charlestown document certifying an import of "one Hogshead of Claret." Signed at the conclusion by Benjamin Lincoln as collector and countersigned by Thomas Melvill as inspector. In very good to fine condition, with a diagonal crease to the lower left corner. Lincoln is remembered as the Continental Army officer who formally accepted the British surrender at Yorktown, while Melvill is best known as a member of the Sons of Liberty who participated in the Boston Tea Party.
