Partly-printed vellum DS as president, signed “J. Q. Adams,” one page, 15.25 x 9.25, May 15, 1827. President Adams grants Richard Parish a parcel of land "offered for sale at Tallahassee in the Territory of Florida, containing eighty acres." Signed at the conclusion by Adams and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office George Graham. The white paper seal affixed to the lower left corner remains mostly intact. In very good condition, with trimmed edges, overall rippling, and a small repair to one of the heavy vertical folds. As part of the Adams-Onis Treaty of 1819, Florida became an official organized territory of the United States on March 30, 1822, roughly 23 years before attaining statehood on March 3, 1845.
