In part: "As you probably know we made the trip O.K. but was disappointed when we learned you were sick…We had a wonderful time as usual & the only disappointment we had was not getting to see you. Enclosed is the expense acct. hope it is not disappointing, but seems like everything is higher than usual." Wheat's handwritten invoice is included, totaling $636, as well as the itinerary for his flights, signed along the bottom, "Ken: I paid for this plane fare which was 486.00, Zack." In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a TLS from Smith forwarding the expense account to Charles S. Feeney, president of the National League. Wheat was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1959.
