Original signed ink sketch of Oscar the Grouch in his trash can accomplished by a German artist on an off-white 7.75 x 9 artist's illustration board, signed on a translucent overlay in pencil by the Sesame Street puppeteer with his approval, "OK—very nice, Jim Henson." Includes a TLS to Henson from German subsidiary on "CTW Sesamstrasse" letterhead, September 12, 1974, in part: "Per instructions in your telex from July 17th new version of Oscar is resubmitted by Freie Hansestadt Hamburg for their promotional campaign, after we have loaned out to them a Muppets Character Book. Mr. Reuss of Hansestadt Hamburg assumes you still have original drawing and has not redrawn the garbage can but only Oscar assuming the can was all right. Please kindly give your ok quickly as possible. This promotion would be a great asset to Sesamstrasse characters, we believe." In the margin, Henson writes: "Al—do we have that original? Jim." In very good to fine condition, with a few tears to the signed translucent page, and small stains and creases to the letter.
