Description

Hitchcock thanks a fellow horror aficionado about his upcoming film Psycho

Terrific TLS signed “Alfred J. Hitchcock,” one page, 5.5 x 8.5, Paramount Pictures letterhead, August 29, 1960. Letter to noted horror and science fiction author Charles Beaumont, in full: "How nice and thoughtful of you to send me a letter about Psycho. I don't know what else to say. Thank you very much for your books which I am sure I am going to enjoy." In fine condition. Letters from Hitchcock mentioning his most famous film are scarce and highly sought-after, with this example predating the film's release date (September 8, 1960) by a mere 10 days. The recipient of this letter, Charles Beaumont, was a highly regarded author of speculative fiction, who is perhaps best known for writing a number of classic Twilight Zone episodes. According to novelist Dean Koontz: 'Charles Beaumont was one of the seminal influences on writers of the fantastic and macabre.'
