ALS signed “Original Harry Handcuff Houdini,” one page, 3.75 x 1.5, September 28, 1912. Written from "Berlin, Germany (Circus-Bsch)," a quick letter to Elliott, referencing a photo of he and his wife Bess, in full: "Above behold the only handcuff I have not been able to break away from." The acknowledged "handcuff," Bess, is pictured above in a vintage matte-finish 3.75 x 5.25 photo of the couple, which has been trimmed and affixed to a 7 x 9 hand-embellished patriotic display. Mounted, matted, and framed to an overall size of 13.25 x 16.75. In fine condition. Provenance: Lot 109, Charles Hamilton, April 14, 1983.
