Churchill and King George VI appoint a vicar

DS, signed by the prime minister, "Winston S. Churchill," and the king, "App'd GRI," one page, 6.75 x 8.5, 10 Downing Street letterhead, July 24, 1942. In full: "Mr. Churchill, with his humble duty to The King, respectfully recommends to Your Majesty the appointment of the Reverend Harry Lionel Ingham, M.A., B.D., Rector of St. Nicholas, Hereford, to the Vicarage of Whittlebury with Silverstone, vacant by the cession of the Reverend Mark Salisbury, LL.D." Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 13.75. In fine to very fine condition. Provenance: Robert F. Batchelder, May 1981.
