Two items: an ALS signed “Bess W. Truman,” one page, 6 x 9.25, no date [1956], personal letterhead, addressed to Lionel Aucoin of Spencer, Massachusetts, in full: “I am sorry I have not returned your stamps long before this. Your letter simply was near the bottom of a great pile of mail. Only former Presidents’ widows are allowed the franking privilege”; and a semi-glossy 3.5 x 5 photo, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Bess W. Truman.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, which bears a preprinted franking signature.
