(Walt Disney Studios, 1940) Magnificent and rare original mini-panoramic production key master background set-up from Pinocchio, which depicts the sinister Coachman of Pleasure Island, standing with arms akimbo in an intimidating full-figure pose, and a small cowering donkey still wearing schoolboy clothes. The cels have placed on a terrific hand-painted production background of the crate-filled holding cell used by the Coachman and his minions. Character images measure 5 x 5.5 (Coachman) and 5 x 4 (donkey), with overall dimensions of 17 x 9.25. Double-matted to an overall size of 23 x 14. In fine condition. Production cels of the ruthless Coachman are exceedingly rare and sought-after, with this example all the more impressive due to its size and hand-painted production backdrop.
