Description

Italian composer (1857-1919) best known for his operas, particularly the beloved repertoire staple 'Pagliacci.' Appealing matte-finish 5.25 x 3.5 postcard photo of Leoncavallo at water's edge in Varazze, signed in ink "R. Leoncavallo," adding a three-measure musical quotation from his most famous Neapolitan song, 'Mattinata,' and the date of July 22, 1908. The piece was written for Enrico Caruso, who recorded it for the Gramophone Co. with Leoncavallo at the piano in 1904. In fine condition.
