Description

Peter Green rejoins Fleetwood Mac to help finish out tour

Concert program for Fleetwood Mac (with the return of founder Peter Green, who left the band in 1970) and Van Morrison at the Fillmore East on February 26-27, 1971, and Gordon Lightfoot on February 28, 1971, 5.5 x 8.5, featuring a “Bill Graham Presents in New York” schedule for March and April. In fine condition. Green returned to the band to help them fulfill the remaining dates of their 1971 US tour; guitarist Jeremy Spencer left the band in California to join a religious cult.

In America Green was best known as the composer of ‘Black Magic Woman,’ which became an international hit for Santana. In his native England, he was revered as perhaps the finest rock guitarist of his generation, ranked on the same level as Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page. ‘Peter could have been the stereotypical superstar guitar player and control freak,’ Fleetwood told the Irish Times newspaper in 2017. ‘But that wasn’t his style. He named the band after the bass player and drummer...the reason there’s a Fleetwood Mac at all is because of him.’
