Huge section of multi-layer insulation Kapton foil, measuring approximately 7 feet by 5 feet when unfurled, with one gold-colored side and one silver-colored side. The blanket is comprised of ten to twelve foil layers, and dotted with plastic grommets in a symmetrical pattern. It also has six 4″ access holes evenly spaced. Marked in red with the part number: "LDW280-14436-3"; the "LDW280" prefix denotes it as a Lunar Module part. In very good to fine condition. Portions of the Apollo Lunar Module were covered in blankets of aluminized Kapton foil to provide thermal insulation. During the return journey from the Moon,Apollo 11 CDR Neil Armstrong commented that during the launch of the Lunar Module ascent stage, he could see 'Kapton and other parts on the LM staging scattering all around the area for great distances.'
