Description

American performer and songwriter (1879-1959) best known for co-writing such standards as the baseball anthem, ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game,’ and ‘Shine On, Harvest Moon.’ ALS signed “Jake,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, February 24, 1937. Letter to Beulah, in part: "Got a lot of laughs out of your letter & sent it to him. Also many happy returns of the day. Just heard about. Take care of yourself and bundle up at night you know when a guy gets fast s_s_ he has to be careful. Had a swell letter from P. G. Smith will you mail the enclosed. He's so god damn swell he don't have the address on his paper to make people think you just say P. G. Smith Hollywood & then he gets it in Ripleys column this letter was delivered etc etc. Nuts or maybe he works too often." In fine condition. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
