Description

French opera composer often called 'the French Mozart' (1775-1834). ALS in French, signed “F. Boieldieu,” one page, 5.5 x 8, March 7, 1834. Letter to a Colonel Marnier, informing him that he is in conflict with the Opera Comique and thus is not in a position to request any favors. However, he says that he will be glad to have two seats reserved at the Opera on occasions on which his own works are being performed. He apologizes for his wife having to write part of the letter due to pain in his right hand. In very good to fine condition, with light staining and creasing. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
