Wartime appointment for a Union paymaster

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 13 x 16.75, March 2, 1863. President Lincoln appoints C. C. Clark as "Additional Paymaster in the service of the United States." Neatly signed at the conclusion by President Lincoln and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. The blue seal affixed to the upper left remains intact. Affixed to a same-size board and in very good condition, with trimmed edges, some scattered stains, and light overall soiling. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
