English pianist and composer of German origin (1771-1858) who wrote a number of sonatas and other pieces for piano, and other compositions, of which his Études are best known; they are still considered standard didactic works for piano students. Impressive twice-signed AMQS on an off-white 12.25 x 9.75 sheet, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "J. B. Cramer, Presente a Monsieur Alfred Beauchesne par J. B. Cramer pendant son sejour a Paris, Xbre 19, 1833," with Cramer adding 29 bars of music from a work entitled "Piccolo Canone, alla 4'ta." In fine condition. From the collection of Stephen Adamson.
