Description

Italian prince (1845-1890) who reigned as King of Spain from 1870 to 1873; the only King of Spain from the House of Savoy, he was the second son of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy and was known for most of his life as the Duke of Aosta. Rare partly-printed DS in Spanish, signed “Amadeo,” one page, 8.5 x 12, April 26, 1871. King Amadeo appoints Valentin Zanala y Rubio as a "first class knight of the Order of Military Merit." Signed at the conclusion by the king, and countersigned by Prime Minister Francisco Serrano. In fine condition.
